California Grabbing on to Fiorina's Pro Growth Message

Carly Fiorina in her run for Senate in California is finding support among business people. With a message of fiscal responsibility - less spending, lower taxes, and a pro-growth message many Californians are finding Fiorina well suited for a state that is facing serious fiscal problems...

Fiorina talks to businesspeople

PLEASANTON — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina was halfway around the conference table, greeting and shaking hands with local business owners Friday, when she reached Ross Blackburn.

"I sure hope you get in there and do something, throw all the bums out," Blackburn, owner of Lafayette-based Lenox Homes, told Fiorina as he shook her hand.

The former Hewlett-Packard CEO grinned and said, "Hold that thought."

That exchange set the tone of her 90-minute campaign event with businesspeople, hosted by high-tech marketing and public relations firm Trainer Communications. Spending most of the time answering questions from about 50 invited attendees, Fiorina pitched a classic Republican pro-business platform: lower and simpler taxes, fewer and more streamlined regulations, less government spending and immigration and environmental policies that favor business growth.
